Access All Awkward has everything that you could ever want in a YA novel: authentic characters, realistic dialogue and highly relatable moments. The whole trilogy are perfect summer reads.

The third book in the trilogy begins with a stressed Bella in the midst of her GCSE exams. However, a long summer awaits her, starting with a music festival with her friends. It's never that simple for Bella, though: She has to work as a litter picker and a toilet scrubber, otherwise she wouldn't be able to afford a ticket. With her big sister being sent by her parents to the festival to keep an eye on her, Bella couldn't think of anything else that would make her experience worse. But, of course, various challenges present themselves to Bella. Will she overcome them?

Firstly, I really connected with the characters in the novel. Therefore, along with the realistic dialogue, this meant that I was engrossed in the book from start to finish, due to it being so enjoyable to read. Bella is a fantastic main protagonist  - many young girls could easily relate to her. Garrod also skilfully interweaves important societal issues, such as sexism, within an upbeat and light hearted plot. I also loved how Garrod didn't create the perfect picture of a festival weekend; once again the events that she describes that occur in the festival are realistic and hilarious. In a world where many young people present ‘perfect’ unrealistic lives online through a lens, it was lovely to see. The presentation of the healthy relationship between Bella and her boyfriend as well as her heart warming friendships at the centre of the plot, was also brilliant and refreshing.

Access All Awkward is highly relatable, brilliantly written and laugh out loud funny. It is a definite 5/5 stars.
