READING- WHAT IT MEANS TO ME

Reading means an abundance to me. It has shaped me to who I am today. Since I was small; I was always fascinated that letters stringed together to form words, words collided to form sentences, and sentences slotted together to make paragraphs and pages of books. Those paragraphs and pages could evoke emotions in me that I never even knew existed, and make me invest in character's stories.

I can escape from my daily strains- and pick up a book, letting the words lure me in; as I immerse myself in: entwining myself to the pages. The words will keep me submerged into the plot, not daring to take my eyes off the page for a second. Reading allows me to live multiple lives, and experience the impossible.

When I was  younger, grabbing a Harry Potter book after a day at school let me ride on the Hogwarts express with the wizards and witches: it let me make spells and potions that I couldn't possibly imagine. I can fly on my broomstick, sip a cold butter beer, or hang out in the Gryffindor common room. But the best thing is, that I've always got Harry, Ron and Hermione right by my side; letting me share every single one of their adventures.

It has always been a part of my life. Reading is a beautiful, extravagant and quite frankly extraordinary work of art. It made my childhood magical, and I wouldn't be so educated on big issues today if it hadn't been for the books that I have read.

What do you love about reading?

  1. I strongly agree to all of your points. One of the things I've realized as a reader is how I've become more aware of the things happening around me, especially the sensitive issues that are sprouting everywhere these days, and how my opinions about them are really different compared to those who don't read. Lovely post!

  2. I feel the same way about reading. I often used it as an escape from real life so I could travel somewhere else and see life through another's eyes. I still find that I do this when I become stressed.
