CATCHING FIRE- BOOK REVIEW

TITLE:  The Hunger Games- Catching Fire
AUTHOR: Suzanne Collins
PUBLISHER:  Scholastic
AGE GROUP: 12+
RATING: 5/5

Peeta and Katniss are about to embark on the Victory Tour, where all the previous winners of the Hunger Games tour all of the Districts. But President Snow takes Katniss aside the day they are meant to leave for the tour, telling her that he is angry for what she did with the Night Lock berries in the arena. Her actions have started to make other Districts rebel... Katniss and Peeta will have to try to calm all of the Districts down, to satisfy President Snow...

But the Victory Tour creates utter havoc in all the Districts. In District 11 after Katniss presents her speech to the crowds, she decides to salute: which ends in disastrous consequences. Even when Peeta makes a drastic decision regarding Katniss; it still might not be enough to stop rebellion in the Districts; and more importantly it might not be pleasing Snow enough.

After returning to District 12, Katniss finds out one of the Districts has had a major uprising, and she is anxious this could happen to all of the others-  and it could all be her fault...

Will she discover a huge secret the Capitol has been hiding from everyone?

The Quarter Quell happens every 75 years, and it determines what will happen in that year's Hunger Games. It is the 75th Hunger Games, and who knows what will happen to Katniss and Peeta? Will they be effected by the third Quarter Quell?

What I really enjoyed about Catching Fire is how you feel like you are in the action, watching it all go on before your very own eyes. Suzanne Collins is an extremely talented author: pulling her readers in with such ease: making them gripped to the novel until the very last syllable. This novel has phenomenal  imagery and amazing descriptions, and you can empathise with the main protagonists in many different ways.  I rate it a solid 5/5 hoots: it will have readers guessing until the very end...
